An earthquake of magnitude 7.5 hit Davao Oriental in the Philippines this morning, the Philippine News Agency reported. The quake was at a depth of 20 kilometres.
The authorities have issued a tsunami threat, saying hazardous tsunami waves are possible for coasts, and residents have been advised to evacuate to higher ground. No casualty has been reported so far.
Last week, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Cebu province in the Philippines that killed over 70 people and left several injured.
