Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina has fled the country amid nationwide protests. Mr Rajoelina was scheduled to give a television address yesterday, but the speech was delayed after a group of armed forces threatened to take control of the state-owned media.
Hundreds of protesters were joined by soldiers and security forces in the capital Antananarivo, waving flags and chanting slogans. According to the United Nations, at least 22 people have been killed in violent clashes. Protests in Madagascar began in late last month over water and power outages.
