Superstar Rajinikanth is currently writing his autobiography, reveals director Lokesh Kanagaraj. While filming Coolie, Rajinikanth wrote daily, sharing deeply personal stories. Meanwhile, Coolie is set for a massive global release across 100+ countries, starring an ensemble cast including Aamir Khan, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan.
In an exciting revelation that has thrilled fans and cinema lovers alike, acclaimed filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj has disclosed that Superstar Rajinikanth is in the process of writing his autobiography. The legendary actor, known for his unmatched cinematic presence and humility, has been dedicating time to document his life story even during the shooting schedules of his upcoming action film Coolie.
In a recent video interview with a media publication, Lokesh Kanagaraj said, “In the last two schedules of Coolie, sir was busy writing his autobiography. He used to write every day.” The director further added that their daily conversations often revolved around Rajinikanth’s writing progress. “Every day, I would ask him, ‘What episode are you in? What phase are you in?’ He would then tell me, ‘This is what happened in my 42nd year,’ and so on,” Lokesh shared.
What makes this news even more special is that Rajinikanth reportedly shared some deeply personal stories with Lokesh that he had never shared with anyone else. “So, it is very close to my heart. What you take away is the experience that the man has seen. One common factor that connects not just me but everybody else in our state to him is all the hurdles that he has overcome,” said the director emotionally.
The autobiography is expected to offer a rare and intimate look into Rajinikanth’s personal life, struggles, and triumphs, tracing his journey from a humble bus conductor in Bangalore to becoming one of India’s most celebrated film icons.
Meanwhile, Coolie, Rajinikanth’s 171st film, continues to build massive anticipation. The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and backed by Sun Pictures, is being touted as one of the biggest Tamil film releases in recent times. It has already made headlines by becoming the highest overseas procurement for a Tamil film to date.
Adding to the excitement, industry sources suggest that Coolie will be released in more than 100 countries around the world, marking one of the most widespread global releases for an Indian film. Hamsini Entertainment, a prominent player in international film distribution, is handling the global rollout. With Coolie, the company is reportedly aiming for its biggest-ever international release.
The film features an ensemble cast of Indian cinema’s biggest names, including Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. Music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, making it his fourth consecutive collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj. The cinematography is handled by Girish Gangadharan, and the editing is done by Philomin Raj.
One of the most talked-about aspects of Coolie is the reunion of Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth after 38 years. The two legends last appeared together in the blockbuster Mr. Bharath in 1986, where Sathyaraj played Rajinikanth’s father. Interestingly, Sathyaraj had declined roles in some of Rajinikanth’s earlier films such as Sivaji and Enthiran, making this reunion all the more significant for fans.
Set against the backdrop of gold smuggling, Coolie promises to be a high-octane action entertainer. However, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has clarified that unlike his other films, Coolie will not be a part of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) and will remain a standalone film.
