New Delhi/Kolkata/IBNS: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has requested the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) to provide the voter turnout report for phase 1 and 2 in the Lok Sabha elections, media reports said.

The ruling party of West Bengal has also requested the CEC to provide a clarification over the delay in publishing the report.

In its letter to CEC, the party claimed the report provided by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on April 30 had neither the information about the total number of eligible electors and the actual number of votes cast.

The TMC, which is led by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleged the percentage of voting in the first phase reported by the ECI on April 30 was 66.14%, which is higher than what was reported on the polling day (April 19), i.e. 60 percent.

Reacting to the Oppositions allegations, the poll body said as quoted by Hindustan Times, disclosure and transparency are standard practices in the ECs work and booth-wise data of actual number of votes polled is available with the candidates soon after the voting ends.

Raising concerns, Mamata Banerjee said, I request all the opposition parties to take care of the EVM machines and please take care of your counting centres.
