Land & property transactions are driving India’s economy in big way, says DoLR Secretary Manoj Joshi

Must Read

Secretary of the Department of Land Resources(DoLR) Manoj Joshi today said that land and property transactions are driving India’s economy in a big way. He was addressing the National Symposium on NAKSHA – National Geospatial Knowledge-based Land Survey of Urban Habitations and Land Stack hosted by the Ministry of Rural Development in New Delhi.

The symposium, a dedicated platform within the GeoSmart India 2025 Conference and Expo, aims at accelerating the adoption of geospatial technologies to transform urban land records and enhance citizen services across the nation. The Secretary highlighted that the time has come to shift completely towards rovers for preparing sketches for the purchase and sale of properties. He suggested that property transactions should be done only through Geographic Information System maps.

The event brought together key policymakers, domain experts from the Survey of India, State Revenue and Land Records officials, and industry leaders to hold intensive deliberations across six critical sessions. The event emphasises replacing legacy systems with transparent, citizen-centric digital land administration.
