King Charles III extends Republic Day greetings to President Droupadi Murmu, praising strong India-UK ties, Commonwealth unity, climate cooperation, and India’s global leadership as the nation celebrates its 77th Republic Day.

Britain’s King Charles III has extended warm Republic Day greetings to President Droupadi Murmu and the people of India, highlighting the enduring strength of India-UK relations and praising India’s growing global leadership in democracy, climate action, and international cooperation.

In a personal letter sent on the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day, King Charles conveyed greetings on behalf of himself and Queen Camilla to the Government and citizens of India. The message underlined the deep historical ties between the two nations and reaffirmed their shared commitment to democratic values, mutual respect, and multilateral cooperation through the Commonwealth.

The British monarch described the partnership between India and the United Kingdom as one rooted in shared ideals and evolving cooperation. He emphasized that the Commonwealth continues to serve as a vital platform for fostering understanding, collaboration, and opportunity among its member nations, particularly in times of global uncertainty.

“The Commonwealth’s rich diversity and the energy of its younger generations continue to inspire hope and progress,” King Charles wrote. He added that in an era marked by geopolitical tensions, economic pressures, and climate challenges, unity among Commonwealth nations has become more essential than ever.

Looking ahead, the King expressed optimism about upcoming international engagements, including the next Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting scheduled to be held in Antigua and Barbuda in November. He noted that the meeting would provide an opportunity for member states to reaffirm shared commitments and collectively shape a vision for a stable and sustainable future.

King Charles also referred to major sporting and cultural milestones that further strengthen bonds among Commonwealth countries. He said he was looking forward to this year’s Commonwealth Games and congratulated India on securing the hosting rights for the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, calling it a significant achievement that reflects India’s growing stature on the global stage.

The letter also highlighted the expanding scope of India-UK cooperation in addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development. King Charles welcomed the deepening partnership in clean energy initiatives, climate finance mechanisms, and joint efforts on clean technology and green growth. These areas, he noted, are crucial for addressing the shared challenge of climate change while promoting inclusive economic development.

Praising India’s leadership in international climate initiatives, the British monarch specifically mentioned India’s role in advancing global resilience against natural disasters. He lauded initiatives such as the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, describing India as a powerful global voice advocating for sustainable and disaster-resilient development.

“India is a powerful global voice for this crucial cause, and our collaboration underscores a shared resolve to shape a prosperous, secure, and sustainable world,” King Charles stated, reinforcing the importance of continued bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The message concluded with warm wishes for peace and prosperity for India in the year ahead. King Charles and Queen Camilla jointly extended their best wishes to President Murmu and the people of India, underscoring the goodwill that continues to define relations between the two countries.
