In Kerala, an ICMR mobile BSL-3 Laboratory from Pune reached Manjeri Medical College in Malappuram district today, in the backdrop of the death of a 14-year-old boy, who succumbed to the Nipah virus last Sunday. An ICMR expert team have also reached Manjeri today.
The ICMR team yesterday visited the Pandikkad area in Malappuram district, the place where the boy is suspected to have got infected by the virus.
Meanwhile, health authorities said the test results of 16 persons who came into contact with the 14-year-old boy have returned negative results.
Three persons were admitted to the hospital yesterday, taking the total number of admitted persons in the Medical Colleges at Kozhikode and Manjeri to 21.
472 persons are in the contact list of the victim, of which 220 are in the high-risk category.
