Kavach Version 4.0 successfully commissioned to enhance passengers’ safety, informs Railways Min to LS

 
Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that safety is accorded the highest priority on Indian Railways and as a consequence of various safety measures taken over the years, there has been a steep decline in the number of accidents. In a written reply in the Lok Sabha today, Mr Vaishnaw said, after extensive and elaborate trials, Kavach Version 4.0 has been successfully commissioned on two thousand 569 Route Kilometres covering the high density Delhi- Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah routes as on 20th of this month. He informed that the funds utilized on Kavach works so far up to last month is three thousand 874 Crore rupees. Mr Vaishnaw said, the allocation of funds during the year 2026-27 is two thousand 66 crore rupees. He said, Kavach work is going at a good pace in the entire country. The Minister said, specialized training programmes on Kavach are being conducted at centralized training institutes of Indian Railways to impart training to all concerned officials. He said, by now more than 94 thousand technicians, operators and engineers have been trained on Kavach technology. He added that this includes about 57 thousand Loco Pilots and Assistant Loco Pilots.
