In Cricket, Karun Nair scored a crucial half-century to help India reach 204 for 6 at stumps on Day 1 of the final Test against England at the Kennington Oval in London yesterday. This was Nair’s first fifty outside India since his famous triple century against England in 2016.
Sai Sudharsan contributed 38 runs, while Washington Sundar remained unbeaten on 19 off 45 balls. Nair and Sundar shared an unbroken 51-run partnership off 88 balls. They will resume batting on Day 2.
England’s Gus Atkinson and Josh Tongue took two wickets each. Rain halted the match twice, but 64 overs were played through an extended evening session. Earlier, the hosts England won the toss and opted to bowl.
India is looking to level the series, which they are trailing, 1-2.
