On the fourth day of the first Khelo India Tribal Games, competitions in swimming, weightlifting, football and wrestling were held today in Chhattisgarh.
Karnataka continues to lead the medal tally with 15 gold medals. Odisha is in second place with nine gold medals, while Assam stands third with four gold medals.
The swimming events under the Games concluded today. In the women’s 100 metres freestyle, Ritika Minj of Odisha won the gold medal. Anjali Munda, also from Odisha, secured gold in the 50 metres backstroke. Odisha further clinched gold in the women’s 4×100 metres medley relay.
In the men’s events, Dhounis N. of Karnataka won gold in the 100 metres freestyle, while Nibir Nilim of Assam secured gold in the 50 metres backstroke. Karnataka also won gold in the men’s 4×100 metres medley relay.
In women’s weightlifting, Dimpy Sonowal of Assam won gold in the 69 kilogram category, while Nikita of Chhattisgarh secured gold in the 77 kilogram category. In the men’s section, Ruba Tadu of Arunachal Pradesh won gold in the 88 kilogram category, and Lalu Taku, also from Arunachal Pradesh, clinched gold in the 94 kilogram category.
On the fifth day tomorrow, hockey, weightlifting and football matches will be held in Raipur, while wrestling competitions will take place in Surguja.The Khelo India Tribal Games began on the 25th of March and will continue till the 3rd of April. More than three thousand athletes from 30 states and Union Territories are participating in seven disciplines, including archery, athletics, football, hockey, swimming, weightlifting and wrestling. Mallakhamb and kabaddi have been included as demonstration sports.
