In a barbaric incident a kangaroo court in Krishnapur under Teliamura subdivision forced a housewife ‘marry’ her paramour in presence of her husband. If that was not enough her husband Jitendra Biswas and people of the kangaroo court also severely beat Arushpriya Biswas and her reported ‘lover’ Haradhan Mallik for their ‘illicit relations’. Arushpriya is now being treated in hospital.

The incident reminded the shameful Tata Kalibari incident at Chandrapur in Agartala that occurred during the Left regime.

According to the local sources, a 40 years old Arushpriya Biswas, wife of Jitendra Biswas – a resident of Madhya Krishnapur Balu Chhara area of Teliamura police station area – reportedly had an illicit relationship with Haradhan Mallik, a resident of the same area for a long time.

On Saturday, the wife of Jitendra Biswas went out of the house under the pretext of visiting her married daughter’s residence. However, Jitendra Biswas came to know his wife did not go to their daughter’s house – so he along with others went to the house of Haradhan Mallik. The villagers found the duo. After beating them, villagers held a Kangaroo court and forced the woman to marry Haradhan Mallik. Later Police rescued the duo – the woman is undergoing treatment at the Teliamura Hospital.
