Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha announced that the Kalapani Canal in Agartala will be fully concreted, drainage construction is in full swing, and NH repairs will begin soon. He also confirmed increased TTAADC funds to accelerate tribal development and Rs 700 crore in ongoing urban infrastructure works.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha today informed that the repair work of some sections of the National Highway in the state will be started soon to fix the roads, as a team from the Centre has already visited.
He also said that the Kalapani Canal in Agartala will be fully concreted using all available technology, and work is also underway.
Dr. Saha said this after visiting Gangail Road, Melarmath, Office Lane, Joynagar Pukur, Dashami Ghat Road, and Dashami Ghat today to review the ongoing development works and to witness whether people are facing any issues or not.
“Two months back, I visited 8 Town Bardowali, which is the centre of the city and my assembly constituency. I visited many booths and wards along with officials and public representatives. The Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Dipak Majumder, has given me an action taken report based on the last visit in which I had flagged so many things. Today also I visited some places which were left out earlier. The problems that people are facing are related to their daily basic issues like roads, drains, and in some places, government land is also being forcefully occupied. So, to solve such issues, one needs to visit physically and cannot solve them by sitting inside an office. I have directed what should be done and what should not be,” said Dr. Saha.
He said that the Kalapani Canal will be a completely concrete drain, and ponds have been renovated.
“However, I have asked officials to see how we can make it better. Monitoring is necessary. We are now constructing drains across the city. Development works are underway throughout the city like never before. From January till today, around Rs 700 crore worth of development works have been inaugurated and foundation stones laid,” said Dr. Saha.
He also informed that the state government has increased funds for TTAADC for further development there.

“As due to fragile soil, sometimes the land breaks, leading to the road condition becoming worsened. I have spoken with Delhi, and a team has also arrived and been directed to solve the issues. I have also spoken with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, and he has also sent a team. Work will be done soon to solve the problems,” he added.
