Justice Arindam Lodh has been apppointed as new Chairman of Tripura’s Human Rights Commission

Former Tripura High Court Judge Justice Arindam Lodh has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the Tripura Human Rights Commission
The appointment was formally made by Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, who approved Justice Lodh’s selection for a tenure of three years.
“In exercise of the powers conferred under Sub-section (1) of Section 22 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, I, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Governor of Tripura, hereby appoint Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arindam Lodh, retired Judge of the High Court of Tripura, as the Chairperson of the Tripura Human Rights Commission for a period of three years or until he reaches the age of 70, whichever comes earlier, with effect from the date he assumes charge,” reads the official notification.
The position remained vacant for the last months following retirement of incumbent chairperson Justice (retd) SC Das who was also chairperson of Tripura Police Accountability Commission. The position of the Tripura Police Accountability Commission is still lying vacnt.
