Junior National Kho Kho Championship begins in Bengaluru

The 44th Junior National Kho Kho Championship started at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Gunjur, Bengaluru, yesterday.
 
Around 1,000 young athletes from states and union territories across India are competing in boys’ and girls’ categories.
 
Nearly 40 matches were played on the opening day. The tournament follows a league-cum-knockout format, with semifinals 3rd January and finals on 4th January.
 
The event was inaugurated by former Minister H. Nagesh, with officials from the Kho Kho Federation of India and Karnataka State Kho Kho Association in attendance.
 
KKFI President Sudhanshu Mittal said the championship offers young players a national platform to learn and grow, while KSKKA President Lokeshwara highlighted improved training and facilities for emerging talent.
 
Meanwhile, the 58th Senior National Kho Kho Championship will be held in Kazipet, Telangana, from 11th to 15th January  and the 35th Sub-Junior Nationals in Kurukshetra, Haryana, from 31st January to 4th February.
