A herd of wild elephants damaged a large paddy field at Chapiabari village under Rajkang Panchayat in Amarpur on Monday night.

The wild elephants entered the village at late night and destroyed eight kanis of paddy land, causing massive loss to the local farmers including- Jirendra Reang, Ranjit Reang and Rahanjoy Reang.

According to the villagers, as it was late at night, they were unable to ask for help from the forest department. As a result, the jumbos continued to destroy the paddy fields. Meanwhile, the affected farmers said that they had planted paddy with borrowing. Now they are in trouble and looking for help from the government
