JMM, RJD to Meet in Patna Tomorrow for Bihar Assembly Seat Sharing

Must Read

An important meeting is going to be held in Patna tomorrow between Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) regarding seat sharing before the Bihar Assembly elections. JMM President and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has assigned the responsibility to State Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu and JMM party General Secretary Vinod Pandey. Both leaders will reach Patna tomorrow and discuss seat sharing with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.

Earlier in September, Hemant Soren had met RJD supremo Lalu Prasad during the Voter Rights Rally in Patna, but then no discussion on seat sharing was held. According to party sources, the JMM is preparing to contest in the Bihar Assembly elections from the constituencies located in the border districts of Bihar. JMM will also demand 12 seats from the Grand Alliance. These include Tarapur, Katoria, Manihari, Jhajha, Banka, Thakurganj, Rupauli, Rampur, Banmankhi, Jamalpur, Pirpainti, and Chakai.

The party says it has a strong support base in these areas and its MLAs have won from these seats before.  It is worth noting that in the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections, the JMM had given 7 seats to RJD, of which the RJD won 4. The seat-sharing agreement for the Bihar Assembly elections is expected to further strengthen the Grand Alliance’s position in the upcoming Bihar Elections.
