Opposition CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Choudhury on Thursday castigated the ruling BJP government at the Centre over suspension of opposition MPs from the Parliament recently and alleged that the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah led government wanted passage of bills in absence of Opposition MPs.

Addressing a party gathering in the city, Choudhury alleged the mass suspension of MPs for raising the issue of breach of Parliament security was a big question mark on the existence of democracy. BJP should accept its failure in the security of Parliament, he maintained.

On the security breach in the parliament, Choudhury said, “Worsening situation of the country under the rule of the Modi government is the reason behind the security breach in the Parliament. The two youths who were detained by the Delhi police for entering into the parliament unlawfully said that they wanted to get the attention of the Prime Minister so that the government could look into issues such as inflation and poverty and other burning issues.”

“Democracy and constitution were in danger under the BJP rule and alleged that instead of replying on the issue of security breach the BJP was taking action against the opposition MPs,” he said.

He alleged, “At a time when the government at the Centre was dragging that country towards dictatorship having no faith in democracy and in the constitution, the same government in other states of the country including Tripura has failed to meet the aspirations of the people.”

“In Tripura, people are frustrated with the misrule of the BJP government. The government which promised jobs for the unemployed youths, had failed to act so, instead they are being found busy in offering some appointments, recruited through the controversial JRBT,” he said.

He continued alleging that the working-class people of Tripura including farmers, REGA workers, TUEP workers and others were being deprived at large under the rule of this BJP government.
