Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma chaired a review meeting of the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Authority (TREDA) on Monday.

In the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister focused on lighting up village markets through solar energy-based ‘Aalok Jyoti Prakalpa’ of the state government.

He wrote in a Facebook post, “It was good to know that most of the aspirational blocks which are in remotest areas have been done.”

According to Dev Varma, the unique project is being funded by NABARD from their RIDF.

In the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed PM- Kusum (solar-pump project) for small farmers (irrigation).

He mentioned, Tripura government provided an additional subsidy for this scheme; the farmers only have to pay Rs 2500 for one Hp pump against the actual cost of Rs 2.50 lakhs. This facility is only for Tripura. Even the boring cost upto 1 lac is being borne by the state government. Both the above schemes are going on smoothly.

He expressed satisfaction on the implementation status of both the projects and directed the TREDA officials to expedite the works further.
