Telangana Governor-designate Jishnu Dev Varma will take  oath on July 31 next. He will leave for Telangana from Agartala on the same day.

Sources said, Dev Varma will leave for New Delhi on next day and hold meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Other new Governors are also scheduled to meet the Prime Minister on the same day.

Sources said, the ADC to the new Telangana Governor will arrive at Agartala on Monday itself and then brief Dev Varma about the next steps and then escort him to Hyderabad.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to Jishnu Dev Varma on Saturday night and congratulated him on being appointed as the Governor.

“But I came to know that I have been entrusted with Gubernatorial position of Telangana when  Chief Minister  A Revnath Reddy called me and says “welcome to Telangana’ , said Dev Varma

In the meantime, entire state is happy with the appointment of Dev Varma as the Governor –first from the state.

The social media was abuzz with congratulatory posts for the whole day.

“He was the perfect choice. A well-deserved position”, said the netizens.

 Dev Varma in a social media post extended his gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of Telangana as the Governor.

“It is also a recognition for the people of my state -Tripura as this is the first time , since Independence that a person from this state has been elevated to this post. I therefore thank both , once again on behalf of Tripura,” Dev Varma mentioned.
