Tokyo/IBNS: Japan is set to impose a new rule making it mandatory for travellers from 71 visa-free countries including the United States, Britain, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia, media reports said.

After the new rule comes into effect, travellers from these countries will have to submit personal information before their journeys.

The rule aims to heighten the border security. It is expected to be imposed in 2030.

The visa-free entries are offered to countries from different regions of the world with varied lengths of time.

In the Asia-Pacific region, the countries are Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

The United States and Canada are the countries to enjoy visa-free entries from North America.

Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, Mexico, Surinam and Uruguay are among the countries from Latin America and the Caribbean.

Australia and New Zealand from Oceania while Israel, Qatar, Turkiye and the United Arab Emirates are from the Middle-East to avail the privilege.

Among African nations are Lesotho, Mauritius, Tunisia, European countries include Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

The conditions and durations for each country vary.
