In the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships, Indian men’s and women’s teams moved into Stage 2 of the championship after topping their Stage 1 groups with dominant wins at Wembley Arena in London.
The women’s team outclassed Rwanda 3-nil after opening with a walkover against Uganda and edging Ukraine to finish atop Group 6. Manika Batra led the charge with a straight-game win over Chantal Hirwa. Diya Chitale and Syndrela Das followed with identical 3-nil victories.
The men’s team also secured a 3-nil sweep over Guatemala to top Group 7, after earlier wins against Tunisia and Slovakia. Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Manav Thakkar and Payas Jain all won in straight games.
