Gujarat Titans have named Indias rising star cricketer Shubman Gill as their captain following the exit of allrounder Hardik Pandya from the side.
Gill was promoted after Gujarat traded Hardik to Mumbai Indians.
Reacting to his appointment, the opening batter, who was the orange cap winner in the last season, posted on X, I am proud to assume the Captaincy of Gujarat Titans and I cannot thank the franchise enough for their trust in me to lead such a fine team. Lets make it memorable!

Gill was the last highest scorer with 890 runs from 17 matches at an average of 59.33 in the last season, which was played earlier this year.
Hardik, who was the Gujarat captain, was traded by the franchise to Mumbai at Rs. 15 crore which was his remuneration.
Additionally, Gujarat will have to pay a transfer fee to Mumbai. Gujarat will also have to pay half of the transfer fee to Hardik.
The trading occurred after the deadline for the franchise to announce the list of players retained or released crossed.

Hardik was in the squad of Gujarat even at deadline but later was traded.
Hardik, who is Team Indias vice-captain, won the titles for Mumbai four times.
In Gujarats inaugural season, Hardik, who was the captain, won the title in 2022. He went on to lead the franchise to the final in the 2023 edition, where they lost to MS Dhonis Chennai Super Kings.
Meanwhile, Mumbai have traded Cameron Green to Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the auction which will be held on December 19.
