IPFT is preparing to form a new state committee as the current tenure nears completion. Minister Shukla Charan Noatia said divisional conferences and a state conference will soon be held while the party reviews its political strength and TTAADC election performance.
The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), a key ally in the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura, is preparing to constitute a new state committee as the tenure of the party’s current committee approaches its end. Senior party leaders have initiated discussions on organisational restructuring and future political strategies during a central committee meeting held recently.
Speaking to media personnel after the meeting, IPFT’s lone MLA and cabinet minister Shukla Charan Noatia stated that the party would complete divisional conferences over the next few months before organising a full-fledged state conference to elect and form a new state committee.
According to Noatia, the meeting focused on two major agendas, including a review of the party’s current political standing and an assessment of its performance in the recently concluded elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). He said the party leadership was also discussing preparations for organisational elections in accordance with the party constitution.
Noatia explained that the IPFT reconstitutes its state committees every three years, and the present committee is nearing the completion of its term. As part of the organisational exercise, grassroots-level committees will first be reorganised through divisional conferences before the state conference is convened.
“The new state committee will be constituted through the state conference. Prior to that, divisional conferences will be conducted to restructure committees from the grassroots level,” he said.
The minister further noted that the party leadership is expected to prepare an organisational roadmap aimed at strengthening the IPFT structure across Tripura. Political observers believe the move could help the regional party regain momentum and improve coordination ahead of future electoral contests in the state.
On the upcoming Village Committee (VC) elections, Noatia expressed confidence in the functioning of the State Election Commission. He said the party believes the elections would be conducted according to schedule and added that IPFT would take a final decision regarding the scale of its participation after the poll announcement is officially made.

Party insiders indicated that the upcoming conferences and committee restructuring could play a crucial role in shaping the future direction of the regional political outfit.
