Union government has decided to upgrade the MBB Airport as International Airport and proposed direct flights to and from Agartala to Dhaka and Chittagong.

The flights would be introduced under the UDAN schemes.

Other International airports in the North East region are in Guwahati and Imphal.

The proposed international flights under the UDAN are Agartala- Dhaka-Agartala, Agartala-Chittgong-Agartala , Guwahati-Bangkok-Guwahati, Guwahati-Dhaka-Guwahati, Guwahati-Kathmandu-Guwahati, Guwahati-Yangon-Guwahati, Guwahati-Hanoi-Guwahati, Imphal –Mandalay-Imphal, Imphal-Bangkok-Imphal, Imphal-Kunmin-Imphal. Besides Bhubaneswar was also included in the list with direct to and from Bangkok, Abu Dhabi, Singapore.

Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in his social media handle said : inally, MBB Airport in Agartala is now set to have international flight service with Dhaka & Chittagong.

My heartfelt thanks to Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji & Civil Aviation Minister Shri JM Scindia ji for this initiative to fulfill the dream of the people of Tripura.

The proposed international flight service with Bangladesh will surely boost Tripura tourism & take the state to a new height in terms of air connectivity.

It will also benefit the people of Bangladesh in various ways & strengthen the cordial relation between the two countries.
