Sports helps in solidifying brotherhood. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb’s call against drug addiction to make Drug-Free Tripura can be achieved successfully through involving the young generation into sports, enunciated Youth Affairs & Sports Minister Sushanta Choudhury after inaugurating Fatikroy Cricket Premier League-2022 Grand Cricket Championship at the school ground of Fatikroy Higher Secondary School by hoisting the flag yesterday. He also inaugurated the new built gallery of the school. President of Tripura Cricket Association Manik Saha also attended the inaugural programme as a chief guest.
The one-month long cricket league started with the initiative of Fatikroy MLA Sudhangshu Das. Total 48 teams from different areas of the state are participating in the league. The opening match was played between Emrapasha Shining Star and Kailasahar Players Association. After inaugurating the league, the YA&S Minister said, the main agenda of the government is to improve sports infrastructure and to hunt sportspersons from remote areas and take them to National level under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. In this regard, the state government is working to develop different sports sectors starting from cricket, football, gymnastics. Initiatives have been taken to involve youths into sports to guide them towards right path. Sports not only keeps one fit but also helps bring social development. And when the mind will develop well, we can achieve success in fighting drug addiction.
YA&S Minister also said, the central government is providing assistance to improve sports in the state in various ways. After the formation of the present government, modern football grounds were installed in Udaipur, Khowai investing 5 crore rupees. Under Khelo India scheme, the sports infrastructure of the state is being improved to further motivate the sportspersons. The state government is determined to create suitable environment for the sportspersons.
Tripura Cricket Association Manik Saha in the programme informed that the association is continuing its work for the improvement of cricket in the state. Then, he hoped for everyone’s cooperation in making the cricket league successful. Other dignitaries present in the programme were Sabhadhipati of Unakoti Zila Parishad Amalendu Das, Sahakari Sabhadhipati Shyamal Das, Chairperson of Kumarghat Municipal Council Biswajit Das, Vice Chairman of Kailasahar Municipal Council Nitish Dey, Joint Director of Youth affairs & Sports department Primong Mog.
