Indias Vinesh Phogat cruised to the semi-finals of the womens 50kg freestyle event of the ongoing Paris Olympics by beating CWG gold-medallist Ukrainian wrestler Oksana Livach 7-5 on Tuesday.

This is Phogats first semi-final outing in the Olympics.

The Indian wrestler came from behind to win the high-octane match 3-2.

Phohgat was trailing the match 1-0 in the first phase of the game.

Displaying her extraordinary resilience and tactical acumen in the second period, the Indian wrestler bounced back to beat her Japanese opponent and cruise to the quarter-finals.

The win will remain as one of the major victories in her career since her Japanese opponent is a three-time world champion and the reigning Asian champion.
