In the FIH Pro League, the Indian women’s hockey team suffered their eighth consecutive defeat, losing 2-3 to China in Berlin last night. India took an early lead through Sunelita Toppa in the 9th minute, and Rutuja Dadaso Pisal added a second goal in the 38th minute from a set piece. However, China responded strongly, with Zhang Ying converting two penalty corners and Xu Wenyu scoring from another set piece to seal the win for China.
With this defeat, India finished at the bottom of the nine-team standings, earning just 10 points from 16 matches. The Indian team will have to win the next edition of the FIH Nations Cup in order to return to the Pro League for the 2026-27 edition.
