Indian High Commission Celebrates Vap Poya Day in Sri Lanka

Must Read

The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka marked the occasion of Vap Poya Day by organising an exhibition titled “Buddham Sharanam Gachami” at the Vidyadeepa Vidyayathana Pirivena in Mabima, near Colombo.

The exhibition highlighted the deep cultural and spiritual ties between India and Sri Lanka rooted in the teachings of Lord Buddha. A special feature of the event was the distribution of Sinhala translations of Jataka Tales comic books to students of the Dhamma School, aimed at fostering interest among the younger generation in Buddhist literature and values.

Officials from the Indian High Commission, members of the clergy, teachers, and students attended the programme. The initiative formed part of India’s continuing efforts to strengthen people-to-people connections and celebrate shared Buddhist heritage with Sri Lanka.
