Indian Diaspora in Nepal gathered today in the Embassy of India in Kathmandu to celebrate the 76th Republic Day. Ambassador Naveen Shrivastav hoisted the flag and the gathering listened to President  Draupadi Murmur’s address the nation. Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of India emphasised that payment through Bhimpay UPI has increased Indian tourists in Nepal, Integrated check post, railway lines, and electricity export to India and Bangladesh using the Indian grid has enhanced regional cooperation.

On the occasion, dance performances on patriotic songs by students of SVCC and Kendriya Vidyalaya mesmerised the viewers. The first edition of the annual magazine “Bhu Pu” for retired Gorkha soldiers was inaugurated by the Ambassador. Dependents of soldiers who died in their duty were awarded the support price during the event. The embassy donated books of more than 23 lakhs worth to libraries in 17 districts of Nepal on the occasion.

The Embassy of India in Kathmandu hosted a reception in the afternoon celebrating the 76th Republic Day.  The Vice-President of Nepal Ram Sahaya Yadav attended the reception as chief guest. The reception witnessed participation from political parties, the Diplomatic Community, Civil society, Academia, the Indian diaspora, eminent personalities of Nepal, officers from the government of Nepal and armed forces, and media representatives. The gathering celebrated the strong bond between India and Nepal and the significant milestone of India’s 76th Republic Day.
