Indian Army achieves key operational milestones in 2025

Must Read

Indian Army in 2025 reported significant advancements, highlighting key milestones in operational employment and deterrence. Following the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor was launched in May 2025, in which nine terrorist camps were destroyed and seven were neutralised across the border.
The strikes were precise, calibrated and time-bound, reinforcing deterrence while maintaining escalation control. It also destroyed more than a dozen terror launch pads along the LoC. The Army also highlighted its progress in BrahMos and Pinaka systems. A BrahMos unit of Southern Command executed a combat missile launch and Pinaka was successfully tested, marking a notable step towards higher-precision deep fires.
The Army received six AH-64E Apaches, progressing in its long-pending Aviation induction plan. 91 per cent of all the ammunition in use by the Indian Army is indigenized. It also inducted a variety of Unmanned Aircraft Systems, including Drones, about 3000 Remotely Piloted Aircraft, about 150 Tethered Drones, and Swarm Drones. This year Army gave momentum to the Tech Absorption, with the aim of moving from technology adoption to integration, embedding new technologies.
In the tech sector, Edge Data Centres were set up to enable faster data-to-decision cycles closer to the tactical edge. It also held a host of key bilateral exercises with France, USA, Thailand, Australia, UK and UAE to deepen interoperability, counter-terror and urban ops readiness, and regional partnerships. It also organised Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025 to position itself on the theme of reform-to-transform for a secure and developed India.
