India scripted history by winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title for a record third time, beating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final match at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad last night. Chasing a massive target of 256 runs set by the Suryakumar Yadav-led Men in Blue, the New Zealand got bundled out for just 159 runs in 19 overs. Jasprit Bumrah bagged the highest 4 wickets and was adjudged Player of the Match.
President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have congratulated the Indian Cricket Team for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. In a social media post, President Murmu said India has the proud distinction of being the only country to win the cup three times, and it is also the only team to win the cup twice in a row. The President said, this brings immense joy and pride to our cricket-loving people, and it is also a marker of the rich talent pool we have among our youth in diverse fields. She added that every single player, the entire management and the support staff deserve the highest praise for this collective triumph.

Mr Radhakrishnan also extended his best wishes to the entire team, support staff, and the millions of fans whose unwavering support powered this remarkable achievement. He said the nation celebrates this glorious victory with immense pride.
In a social media post, the Prime Minister said, this remarkable triumph reflects exceptional skills, determination and teamwork. Mr Modi said the team have shown outstanding grit through the tournament. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, the team’s exceptional performance throughout the tournament and the vigorous display of mettle has brought glory and pride for the nation.
