In the BWF World Junior Mixed Team Championships 2025, the Indian badminton team defeated Sri Lanka 45-27, 45-21 in their Group H clash to stay unbeaten at the National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati yesterday. Lalthazuala Hmar got the team off to a flying start, beating Keneth Aruggoda 9-2 in the boys’ singles. Bhavya Chhabra and Mithileish P Krishnan then extended India’s lead to 18-6 in the boys’ doubles against Sanuda Ariyasinghe and Thisath Rupathunga.
 
In the girls’ singles badminton, Rakshitha Sree faced a 3-8 deficit against Ranithma Liyanage. C Lalramsanga and Taarini Suri sealed the opening set 45-27 with a 9-6 win in the mixed doubles over Aruggoda and Liyanage. India is on track to advance to the knockout stage as Group H toppers, with one group match remaining against the United Arab Emirates today.
