India Men’s Team Lose 1-2 to Netherlands in Amstelveen –

In Hockey, the Indian men’s team went down 1-2 against the Netherlands in the FIH Pro League at the Wagener Hockey Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands last night. India’s captain Harmanpreet Singh gave them the lead in a fiercely contested battle before Thijs van Dam registered a brace for Netherlands. 
 
 
 
The Indian men’s team will next face the Netherlands tomorrow at 6:00 PM. On Wednesday, they will be up against Argentina. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM. The Women’s team will begin its campaign on 14th of this month. They will take on Australia at the Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre in London. The Indian Men’s team currently stands at fourth place while the women’s team sits at sixth place.
 
 
 
The European leg of FIH Pro League 2024-25 season resumed yesterday. This year’s edition features nine nations in both the men’s and women’s categories. In the men’s competition, the participating teams are Argentina, Australia, Belgium, England, Germany, India, Ireland, Netherlands and Spain, while the women’s tournament includes Argentina, Australia, Belgium, China, England, Germany, India, Netherland and Spain.
 
 
 
The stakes are high in this extended six-month tournament, as the Pro League champions will earn direct qualification to the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026. Australia men’s team and Netherlands women’s team have already secured their berths by winning the previous edition, Netherlands’ men and Belgium’s men’s and women’s teams are guaranteed spots as World Cup hosts.
