Must Read

International Tiger Day is being celebrated today. The day is observed globally on the 29th of July every year to preserve tigers’ natural habitats and raise public awareness and support for conservation efforts worldwide.

On the occasion of Global Tiger Day, Union Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav highlighted India’s remarkable success in tiger conservation. In a social media post, Mr. Yadav mentioned that with 58 reserves and 3 thousand 682 tigers, the country has emerged as an example for the world in tiger conservation. He said that tiger conservation is not just about saving the species. The Minister added that the rising numbers of tigers also symbolise the health of the forests they inhabit. Mr. Yadav urged everyone to take a pledge to protect tigers and their ecosystems, as it also supports livelihood opportunities for communities.  The declaration to celebrate this day was made on July 29, 2010, in St. Petersburg, aiming to unite all tiger range countries in a concerted effort to enhance tiger conservation and management worldwide. This day serves as a platform to raise awareness about the challenges faced by these magnificent creatures and the efforts being made to safeguard their future.
