India crush England by massive 336 runs to win 2nd Test of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy & level 5-match series 1-1 –

Must Read

India registered a historic 336-run victory over hosts England in the second cricket Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Edgbaston, Birmingham, last night, levelling the series 1-1. This victory marked India’s first-ever Test win at the venue, breaking a 58-year winless streak at the ground.

Despite rain delaying Day 5’s start by 100 minutes, India’s bowlers managed to take the remaining seven wickets of the hosts.

Akash Deep delivered a match-winning 10-wicket haul, becoming only the second Indian bowler to achieve this feat in England after Chetan Sharma in 1986. Deep’s 10-wicket haul included 4 wickets in the first innings and 6 in the second. He was well supported by Mohammed Siraj, who claimed 7 wickets in the match, 6 in the first innings and 1 in the second.

Earlier, on Day 4, skipper Shubman Gill’s mammoth 430-run aggregate, including a stunning 269 in the first innings and 161 in the second, powered India to a commanding target of 608 runs. Gill was adjudged Player of the Match, with his total of 430 runs now the second-highest in a Test match, behind only Graham Gooch’s 456 against India in 1990 at Lord’s.

India declared their second innings at 427 for 6, while England were bowled out for 271 while chasing the daunting target.

The two teams will now clash in the third Test starting from the 10th of this month at Lord’s.
