In Football, India defeated Maldives 3-0 in an International friendly match at Shillong last evening. Thanks to the goals from Rahul Bheke, Liston Colaco and Indian captain Sunil Chhetri, the Indian team registered victory in the match. The match was a dress rehearsal for the all-important AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Bangladesh at the same venue on the 25th of this month.
The Indian captain scored his 95th international goal in his comeback match. The 40-year-old Chhetri came out of his international retirement earlier this month to help the team navigate the qualifiers for the continent’s top football tournament.
