India and Maldives exchange several agreements after delegation-level talks

India and the Maldives today exchanged several agreements after delegation-level talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maldives President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at Male. In his press statement following the talks, Prime Minister Modi extended his congratulations to the President and the people of Maldives on the historic 60th anniversary of independence.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a Guard of Honour at Republic Square in Male. Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu accompanied Mr. Modi. A 21-gun salute was also given to Mr. Modi. In a welcome ceremony, Maldivian Children presented cultural programmes. The Prime Minister met some ofthe  Maldivian delegates while Mr. Muizzu met External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other Indian officials. Later Prime Minister signed a visitor book at President House.
The Prime Minister arrived in Male, capital of Maldives, on the second leg of his two-nation visit. This marks the Prime Minister’s third visit to Maldives, and the first visit by a Head of State to Maldives during the Presidency of Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. In a special gesture, President of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Muizzu received the Prime Minister at the Airport. Prime Minister is deeply touched by this gesture of President Muizzu. He said that India-Maldives friendship will scale new heights of progress in the times to come.
        Prime Minister Narendra Modi was accorded a warm and vibrant cultural reception at Velana International Airport in Male, greeted by enthusiastic Maldivian Citizens. This vibrant welcome underscored the strong and growing ties between two nations. The Indian diaspora also turned out in large numbers to extend warm welcome to the Prime Minister. Chhau Dance performance of Indian Children was appreciated by everyone.
