In Cricket, India were 310 for five against England at the stumps on day one in the second test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Skipper Shubman Gill with 114 runs and Ravindra Jadeja with 41 runs were at the crease. Yashasvi Jaiswal also contributed 87 runs. For England, Chris Woakes scalped 2 wickets.
 
Earlier, England won the toss and opted to bowl. Team India made three significant changes to their playing XI. Jasprit Bumrah has been rested, paving the way for pacer Akash Deep to make his debut. All-rounders Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy have also been brought in, replacing Shardul Thakur and Sai Sudharsan. The hosts are playing an unchanged XI for the second Test.
 
In the first Test of the five-match series, England defeated India by five-wickets to lead 1- 0 at Headingley, Leeds.
