In Superbet chess classic, D. Gukesh starts off with a win in Romania yesterday. The world championship challenger took down Bogdan-Daniel Deac with the white pieces in the first round. Gukesh got into some trouble in the early middle game but Bogdan’s serious time trouble offered the Indian prodigy a full advantage and he went on to score a comfortable win. Meanwhile R. Praggnanandhaa held Uzbek grandmaster, Nodirbek Abdusattorov to draw and shared half a point each.
Gukesh is now co-leading the tournament with US Grandmaster Fabiano Caruana as they both emerged victorious in the first round.
