IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has said, India’s economic reforms have significantly boosted its growth and made it a major contributor to the global economy.
Speaking at a press conference during the IMF-World Bank annual meetings, Georgieva cited India’s reforms in tax policy, infrastructure, and digital connectivity as key drivers of its economic performance.
Earlier this week, the IMF raised India’s 2025 growth forecast to 6.6 per cent, citing strong momentum in the first quarter despite U.S. tariff increases. India’s economy grew 7.8 per cent in the April-July quarter, outperforming expectations.
Georgieva also encouraged India to reduce trade barriers and deepen global integration, while urging it to continue its current reform path.
