IMD issues orange alert in Kerala; holiday declared for schools in 6 districts

India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in Kerala for the coming days. It has issued an orange alert for Kasargod, Kannur, Wayanad and Kozhikode districts, while a yellow alert has been issued in Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Alappuzha districts today. In view of the forecast, a holiday has been declared for all educational institutions, including professional colleges and Kendriya Vidyalayas in Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Alappuzha districts today. Fishermen have been alerted not to venture into the sea along the Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts till Saturday.
