ICFAI University Tripura launches 9 new programmes for 2026–27, expanding to 59 professional courses. Focus on AI, healthcare, and technology education, backed by modern infrastructure, scholarships, and global industry partnerships to boost student career readiness.
A major expansion in academic offerings has been announced by ICFAI University Tripura, marking a significant step toward strengthening professional education in the region. The university unveiled prospectuses for 59 professional programmes for the 2026–27 academic session during a press conference held at the Agartala Press Club on Sunday evening.
The announcement signals a strategic push to diversify academic disciplines and align education with evolving industry demands. The programmes span a wide range of fields, including Engineering, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Basic Sciences, English, Allied Health Sciences, Nursing, Management, Economics, Commerce, Law, Education, Physical Education and Yoga, Psychology, and Clinical Psychology.
Addressing the media, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Biplab Halder highlighted the introduction of nine new professional programmes aimed at enhancing student opportunities. Among these are five undergraduate courses: Bachelor of Optometry, B.Sc. Nursing, B.Sc. Clinical Psychology (Hons.), B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and Bachelor of Pharmacy. Additionally, the university is launching a postgraduate programme in Master of Dialysis Therapy Technology, a diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm), and two certificate programmes in French and Hindustani Classical Music.
The move reflects the institution’s commitment to bridging academic learning with industry requirements, particularly in high-growth sectors such as healthcare, technology, and specialized sciences. University officials emphasized that these new programmes are designed to equip students with practical skills and future-ready competencies.
The Vice Chancellor also noted that the institution has completed 22 years of academic excellence since its establishment in June 2004. Over the years, it has maintained a strong placement record, with students securing positions in reputed national and multinational companies through campus recruitment drives.
Scholarship support remains a key pillar of the university’s approach to inclusive education. According to official data, 3,496 students benefited from scholarships totaling ₹12.74 crore during the academic years 2024–25 and 2025–26. These include financial assistance from state and central government schemes, as well as the university’s own N. J. Yasaswy Memorial Merit Scholarship.
Infrastructure development is another area witnessing rapid growth. The university is currently undertaking the second phase of its campus expansion, which aims to accommodate an additional 10,000 students. The expansion includes the construction of 100 modern classrooms, advanced computer laboratories, and dedicated faculty spaces within a fully air-conditioned environment.
The campus is equipped with a high-speed 2.5 Gbps Wi-Fi 6-enabled network, ensuring seamless digital access for students and faculty. Smart classrooms and modern learning facilities further enhance the academic experience. Notably, the campus has also been recognized as a True 5G-enabled campus, placing it among the technologically advanced educational institutions in the state.

In a bid to strengthen industry-academia collaboration, the university has partnered with leading global technology companies such as Microsoft, AWS, Oracle, and Red Hat. These collaborations are expected to provide students with access to industry-relevant certifications, practical training, and exposure to real-world technological applications.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the role of media representatives in disseminating information and supporting educational initiatives. The announcement is expected to attract students from across the region, further positioning the university as a hub for professional and technical education.
