ICC Men’s T20 World Cup: England defeat New Zealand in Super 8 Group 2 Match

In the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, England defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in a Super 8 group 2 match at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo last night. Chasing a target of 160 runs set by New Zealand, England scored 161 for 6 in 19.3 overs. For England, Tom Banton was the top scorer with 33 runs, while Will Jacks remained unbeaten with 32 runs. For New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra scalped 3 wickets. 
 
Earlier, opting to bat first, New Zealand scored 159 runs, losing seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Glenn Phillips made 39 runs off 28 balls and Tim Seifert scored 35 runs.  For England, Adil Rashid, Will Jacks and Rehan Ahmed took 2 wickets each. Will Jacks was adjudged the Player of the Match. 
 
Today, in a Super 8 group 2 match, Pakistan will face Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele. The match will begin at 7 pm local time. India defeated Zimbabwe by 72 runs in a crucial Super Eight match in Chennai on Thursday. 
 
India will next face the West Indies in their last Super Eight clash tomorrow at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The result of this match will decide India’s fate in the tournament.  Semifinals of the T20 World Cup are scheduled on 4th and 5th March, while the final will be played on 8th March.
