In a social media post, Mr Shah stated that Tilak transformed Swaraj into a mass movement, made Swadeshi a matter of public consciousness, and elevated culture as a source of national pride. He emphasised that Tilak fostered social unity through celebrations like Ganesh Utsav and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. Mr Shah also noted Tilak’s significant role in the fight against untouchability and described him as a lasting source of inspiration for the people of India.
