The Lok Sabha has taken up the Tribhuvan Sahkari University Bill 2025 for consideration and passing. The Bill seeks to establish the Institute of Rural Management Anand, as a University to be known as the Tribhuvan Sahkari University and to declare it as an institution of national importance.
The institution will impart technical and management education and training in the cooperative sector and will promote cooperative research and development to attain standards of global excellence in order to realise the vision of Sahakar Se Samriddhi. It will also strengthen the co-operative movement in the country through a network of institutions and to declare the Institute as one of the Schools of the University.
Initiating the discussion, Geniben Nagaji Thakor of Congress said it is a matter of pride that the first cooperative university will be established in Gujarat.
Taking part in the debate, Mitesh Patel of the BJP said that cooperation is an important step towards the empowerment of small farmers. He said the success story of Anand Milk Union Limited AMUL is the example of visionary leadership of Tribhuvan Das Patel. He said that Tribhuvan Sahkari University would strengthen the cooperative movement in the country.
Virendra Singh of the Samajwadi Party questioned the criteria for the appointment ofthe Vice Chancellor and governing body of the University. The discussion is underway.
