The picturesque ski resort of Gulmarg in North Kashmir has officially kicked off the second phase of the 5th Khelo India Winter Games 2025. The opening ceremony this evening marked the start of a thrilling competition that will run until March 12. The Games will draw over 550 athletes from across the country.
Competitions on day one featured a range of winter sports, including ski mountaineering, alpine skiing, snowboarding, and Nordic skiing events, with participants racing across 5- and 10-kilometre courses at the stunning Kingdori peak near the Golf Club.
In addition to the exciting sports, organisers have implemented extensive security measures, with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and other agencies ensuring a safe environment through strict access controls, CCTV surveillance, and regular patrols.
