Govt undertakes modernisation of Akashvani Kendra under BIND scheme: Union Minister L Murugan

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan has said that the Government has undertaken measures for the modernisation and expansion of Akashvani and Doordarshan Kendras (DDK) across all states. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, Dr Murugan said that the Kendras are being upgraded under the Central Sector Scheme – Broadcasting Infrastructure and Network Development (BIND). This includes major upgrades throughout the country, including Bihar, to strengthen public broadcasting. He informed that the scheme has been approved with a total outlay of over two thousand and 539 crore rupees for the period 2021-2026. Dr Murugan said the focus of the scheme is on digitalisation and modernisation of broadcasting equipment and replacement of old systems. Dr Murugan added that the Government has also sanctioned various projects for the modernisation of broadcasting infrastructure in Bihar.
