Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha stated that the government is earning the trust of the people by implementing various developmental projects with transparency. Addressing the foundation stone-laying and land-worship ceremony of the Auxiliary Production Center of the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) in Purba Laxmibil under the Bishalgarh Subdivision, he credited the Central Government’s support for these transformative initiatives.
During his speech, the Chief Minister stressed that the true progress of the country depends on the advancement of the northeastern states. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the region is experiencing remarkable growth, benefiting from a series of projects aimed at improving infrastructure, employment, and social welfare.
New Artificial Limb Manufacturing Center for Differently-Abled Individuals
The artificial limb manufacturing center is set to be established on five acres of land in Purba Laxmibil Gram Panchayat under the Bishalgarh Block. This initiative, under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, aims to provide essential support and assistive devices to differently-abled individuals. The Chief Minister emphasized that with proper training and resources, they can achieve success in various fields. He highlighted the government’s commitment to implementing welfare schemes that empower this section of society.
Empowering Women and Strengthening Self-Help Groups
CM Saha also underscored the significant progress of women in Tripura toward self-reliance. Over the past few years, the state has formed 56,000 self-help groups (SHGs), with a membership of around 450,000 women. These groups have collectively received financial assistance of approximately ₹700 crore, helping them become self-sufficient in diverse sectors.
The Chief Minister highlighted the growing interest of industrial organizations in setting up businesses in Tripura. He attributed this economic growth to the prevailing peace and stability in the state. The government remains dedicated to ensuring inclusive development through the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
First-of-Its-Kind Factory in Northeast
Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Banwari Lal Verma, stated that this is the first time such a factory is being established in the northeastern region. He praised the Central Government’s commitment to bringing balanced development across all states. He also reiterated that Prime Minister Modi is devoted to uplifting weaker sections of society, ensuring that differently-abled individuals receive equal opportunities in education, employment, and sports.
Support for Differently-Abled Individuals
Minister for Youth Affairs & Sports, Tinku Roy, reaffirmed the state government’s support for differently-abled individuals in education, sports, and other fields. He noted that special pensions and scholarships are being provided across all eight districts of Tripura.
The event was presided over by Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb, who expressed confidence that the establishment of this factory would bring significant socio-economic changes to the region. He highlighted the Central Government’s efforts in enabling differently-abled individuals to showcase their talents through various schemes.
CMD of ALIMCO, Pravin Kumar, delivered the welcome speech, while other prominent guests included Supriya Das Dutta, Chairperson of Sepahijala Zilla Parishad, MLA Sushanta Deb, A.K. Pandey, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Director T.K. Das, Sepahijala District Magistrate Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, and Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak.
During the event, the Chief Minister and other dignitaries distributed various assistive devices to 39 differently-abled individuals, reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
