Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has said that the state government is earnestly working to develop the religious tourism sector in the state.

Chief Minister Dr. Saha said this while inaugurating the Diwali Festival and Mela at Tripurasundari Temple on Sunday evening.

Dr. Saha began by participating in the Kalyan Aarti at Kalyansagar and offering prayers to Maa Tripurasundari for the welfare of the state.

Subsequently, he inaugurated the 3-day long Diwali mela by lighting the lamp at Dhanyamanikya Muktamanch adjacent to the temple.

During the inauguration of the Diwali festival, the Chief Minister emphasized that the celebration occurs annually to dispel negative energy and invoke positive vibes.

“Pilgrims gather here every year from neighboring Bangladesh and abroad for this festival. The present government is committed to the development of the religious tourism sector. The Tripureswari temple is currently undergoing renovation under the Prasad scheme. The state government is sincerely dedicated to fostering the growth of the religious tourism sector in the state,” said Dr. Saha.

He highlighted the increasing number of devotees at the Matabari temple, leading to a rise in the establishments of shops, hotels, and small businesses. The influx of pilgrims is also generating employment opportunities.

“The longstanding tradition of Matabari’s Diwali festival is still thriving. Consequently, it has gained recognition as one of the most visited places for tourists in the country. This festival will continue to promote the message of harmony and contribute to the establishment of Ek Tripura Srestha Tripura,” said Dr. Saha.

The event was attended by Finance Minister Pranajit Singh Roy, Cooperation Minister Sukla Charan Noatia, Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Tripura Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Pal, MLA Rampada Jamatia, Abhishek Debroy, and others.

On the same day, Dr. Saha also participated in the worship of Shyama Maa organized by Town No. 8 Bardowali Mandal Yuva Morcha at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Sarbajanin Kali Puja Committee adjacent to Agartala Railway Station, Indranagar Kali temple, etc.
