The state government has given priority to improving the quality of education for OBC students . The good results of OBC students in 202 1 and 2022 are evident. This has been possible due to the collective will of students, parents and teachers. OBC Welfare Minister Santana Chakma said this at Dr. B. R Ambedkar Gold Medal award and education loan programme at Rabindra Bhavan yesterday. The OBC Welfare Minister also said in the programme that the government wants the students of the OBC community to get better results in the board exams. For this purpose, the Central Government and the State Government have implemented various schemes. Chief Minister Akanksha Scheme has been launched to enable OBC students to participate in various national level competitive examinations. Besides, coaching arrangements have also been made in the state.
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Gold Medal Award was given to 37 meritorious students from OBC community who secured first to tenth position in the previou s 2021 and 2022 Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Examination conducted by Tripura Board of Secondary Education. 6 students were awarded Vidyasagar Socio – Cultura l Award, 5 students were awarded for topic-wise essay competition organized at Colleges and Universities level on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrita Mahotsav. One-time financial assistance was also given to 157 students from OBC community. Moreover, 14 selected students fro m OBC Corporation were given educational loans. The guests gave prizes, one-time financial assistance and educational loan sanction letters to the students.
Chairman of State OBC Commission and guest of honour, Mrinal Kanti Nath said that the government has given priority to the dev elopment of OB C community. The guest of honour and Chairman of Tripura OBC Welfare Corporation Limited, Tapash Majumder s aid that the state government has taken various step s fo r the development of the OBC community in the field of education, social and finance. Special Guest and Secretary of OBC Welfare Department Tapas Roy said that there are 44 OBC communities in the state. Efforts have been made to improve the socio-economic status of everyone. Before the start of the programme, the guests along with OBC Welfare Minister paid their respects by placing wreaths on the portraits of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and Vidyasagar. Director of OBC Welfare Department Nirmal Adhikari gave vote of thanks.
